Stuck in Sunshine Lakes was one of the first comedy screenplays I ever wrote, and now I’ve turned it into a novel.
Here’s a brief synopsis:
When New York stockbroker Aaron Davidson loses his job, his wife, his money, and his Manhattan apartment, he’s forced to move back in with his parents, who now live in a kooky, active-adult retirement neighborhood in Arizona called Sunshine Lakes.
There, he meets up with three retired venture capitalists, Bert, Jack, and Eddie (who call themselves “The Denture Capitalists”). They make him an offer he can’t refuse – they want to help him start his own business. The only catch? Instead of getting paid back with money and interest, they all want jobs instead!
Luckily, just when Aaron thinks he’s about ready to go crazy from being around old people 24 hours a day, he meets a cute nurse named Laura who helps keep him sane – until his life gets crazy all over again.
