Arizona Wildlife Photography

by Niki Galiano

I originally picked KU because was going to major in journalism (they had a great j-school!) but after someone stole one of my high school newspaper articles and put their own byline on it, I decided I didn’t want to work in that field anymore.

At one point, I had decided on becoming a wildlife biologist, but when I was in college in the late 80’s/early 90’s, there was a pretty bad recession going on, and my dad advised me to go into a carreer where I would always be able to support myself, which I did. (I became a pharmacist.)

But there is still a part of me that always wished I could have been a wildlife biologist…because there’s just somethings so peaceful about being out in nature….and all that wildlife …that just makes me feel at one with the universe.

I guess that’s why I like to go camping, too, whenever possible.

I just love this little guy – he’s just so darn cute!

I couldn’t believe how lucky I got when all these ducks came swimming up to me in formation! I mean, I’ve heard of flying in formation, before, but never swimming in formation.

Awww…aren’t they beautiful? I got a photo of this “swan couple” (a couple of years ago) that was living in a lake in Sun Lakes, where my parents live. Sadly, I haven’t seen then swans in years.
